​Pit Orchestra Director - Virginia Hernandez

Mrs. Hernandez is thrilled to be a part of the Griffith Theatre Company as the Pit Orchestra Director. She has been involved in musical orchestra pits for over 20 years, including productions of The Music Man, Guys and Dolls, Bye Bye Birdie, Into the Woods, and more. With a BM in Music Education from Bowling Green State University, and a MM in trumpet performance from DePaul University, most of her experience has been as a player, usually playing first trumpet. She also has experience in both conducting and hiring a pit orchestra. With 15 years of experience teaching vocal music, and 20+ years of experience in the band world, she can’t wait to direct her first pit as a part of the Griffith Theatre Company.
